The Company behind the Buffett

Like most people that I know, I was fascinated to read about the initiative to boost the corporate brand behind Warren Buffett, the legendary investor CEO of mega-conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway (you know, Dairy Queen, Geico and Fruit of the Loom). Of course it is understandable since Buffett is in his mid 80s and questions about succession have not been fully resolved. As one analyst said, “This is really an effort to make the brand as recognizable as Buffett himself.”

In recent years, the article points out that Berkshire Hathaway has been branding some of its divisions such as Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. For the former, there is even an endorsement of the company behind the brand from the man himself. Buffett says on the web site, “When people are making the decision of the magnitude of buying a house, it’s the biggest decision a great many families will ever make. They want to know who they’re working with, and we think that the Berkshire Hathaway name will be reassuring to many of those people.” And the tagline behind this HomeServices real estate brokerage franchisee network is perfect, “Good to Know.” Good to have that assurance of who is behind the broker you select, for sure.
